WISE-WISE Green Furniture Award 2011: A Century-long furniture competition is currently open for application
“As forestry workers plant trees thinking of a century ahead, we, furniture manufacturers, should make furniture with a perspective looking at one century ahead. And if we can do so, then we will establish social systems which allow people to inherit furniture for the next century.”
Based on such belief, Wise-wise Inc., a furniture company based in Tokyo, holds a unique competition for ‘Century-long furniture’. Application requirement is a design or illustration of a piece of furniture which can contribute to: healthier natural environment/forests in Japan; encouraging the spirit of craftsmanship; and continuing to make people happy even until one century away from now.
Fairwood Partners supports this competition and one of the staff, Kenichi Nakazawa, is serving as a jury member.
