Fairwood Partners facilitated Nomura’s formulation of guidelines for wood procurement
Nomura Co., Ltd. , one of the largest exhibition and display company in Japan, has recently adopted its own guidelines for wood procurement. Since Nomura uses huge amounts of wood and wood products through its business activities (planning/design/production of visitor-attracting environments as well as operation of various facilities and events), it recognizes that the procurement of environmentally-friendly wood products is an essential component for fulfilling its social responsibilities.
In November 2010, the company thus formulated the “Wood Procurement Guidelines of Nomura: declaration of support for Fairwood” (details are shown below). Fairwood Partners facilitated the process of this formulation.
Wood Procurement Guidelines of Nomura: declaration of support for Fairwood We actively promote the procurement of: - domestically/locally-sourced woods (woods that are sourced from areas close to where they will be used); - woods certified by reliable third party institutions (e.g. FSC, PEFC, SGEC); - recycled/reused woods (woody building materials that are made from previously used woods). We will check whether we are sourcing: - endangered species; - woods which cannot be identified as legally logged, produced, or sold; - woods that are not sure of their place of origins or species. |
