Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries announced the approval of an afforestation activity in China as CDM project

[Dec 22, 2009 : MAFF] - Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries announced that a CDM project proposed by Keio University had been recognized as a Japanese official CDM project, after the approval by the Liaison Committee for the Utilization of the Kyoto Mechanisms.
The project is a Small-scale Afforestation for Desertification Combating project in Kangping County, Liaoning Province, China, covering 370.98 ha land area.
During the crediting period of twenty years from January 1st, 2003 to December 31st, 2022, the total amount of 23,055 t-CO2e is expected to be absorbed in the project.

[Dec 10, 2009 : MAFF] - The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries positively works on the introduction of the wood product such as copy paper and the promotion of the wood utilization for public engineering works and facilities which are the objects of the supplementary business from the viewpoint to contribute to the prevention of global warming and the formation of the resource recycling society, etc.
Furthermore, the Ministry settled on "Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries wood use promotion plan" to expand this to the whole government, and to infiltrate it to the local public entity, the private company and the consumer.
